The Austalian School of Fine Wood was established in 1995 with a theme to provide industrial training relevant to fine wood practioners.  To be a focus for excellence in the design and principle techniques for the innovative use of hardwood timbers.  The School of Wood cuts across the barriers of age or gender, students present the very best of our Forest Heritage and its beauty in fine wood design.  The School of Wood identifies the opportunities and needs in the context of Education, Training and Design to achieve these outcomes.

training1-tabThe Forest Heritage Centre has positioned itself in patnership with other educational providers and industry to ensure its training and education remains in alignment with the international trends, use of materials and latest technologies.

Graduates find employment in Commercial Furniture Design, Manufacturing in high end cabinet making, Luxury boat building fit outs or Artisan Design Fabricators of fine wood.

Short recreational Course

training2-tabThe School of Wood offers a specific course designed to introduce students to the formal training regime as the prerequesite before they enter the more fluent landscape of crafted fine wood skills.

The stunning beauty of natural timber and the reliability of an engineered hardwood artifact are all distinct to the School of Wood.  Every course level is overseered by lecturers and Fine Wood Artisans contracted to deliver precise modules up to and including the Diploma programme, to meet the needs of the burgeoning Fine Wood Industry and the Department of Training.

  • Jarrah Forest Lodge

    The Forest Heritage Centre has incorporated the Lodge, which is a unique facility surrounded by jarrah forest on a 7 hectare block, only 600 metres from Dwellingup town centre. 

     Accommodation consists of 16 single rooms with shared bathroom facilities.  A large well equipped kitchen with a spacious dining room area seating up to 25 people, with a wood fire for those chilly winter nights.
