A finished raw edge wood turned bowl created in the woodturning woodwork courses run at the Forest Heritage Centre, woodturning can produce quality pieces. 1. Advanced Woodturning : July 12th & 13th   $285
Gordon Ward.
This weekend woodwork is for those who have a good knowledge of the principals of wood turning. You will be introduced to techniques such as carving, embelishments and hollowing. This course will lead onto the Master Series Workshop held on September 13 & 14.
How to apply  

This piece of pyrography is featured and embellished using art and craft wood burning techniques, by Steve Makin, the Sluice gate and crusher of Albany's First Goldmine pictured in wood. 2. Pyrography (hot poker work): July 19th & 20th   $205.00
Steve Makin
Steve is an expert in the art of pyrography. On the first day he will teach you some basic skills and you will be able to experiment with some simple pieces. Day two is available to learn more advanced techniques and you will produce a cheese board and or picture.

Lawrence Marshall
Have you just purchased a camera or need some expert tips in photography. Lawrence has many years of experience as a freelance photographer and help you with group portraits, composing, exposure, controls, filters and other effects using your camera. This is a must to improve your photographs.

Discover how to perfect those hand cut dovetails, fitting hinges and other basic joinery techniques to create a beautiful Jarrah jewellery box.

A student in one of the woodwork courses using the Forest Heritage Centre's  machinery, woodturning can produce quality pieces. 5. Introduction to Woodturning : July 30th(Wednesday)   $155.00
Gordon Ward
This one day wood work course will be a basic introduction for those with little or no experience. You will learn about wood turners tools, their uses, terminology and how to use a wood work lathe.Gordon will then help you put together that knowledge to good use by helping you to produce a simple item.

Greg Miller
In this Woodwork course, Greg will take you through the pleasures of making and using these very useful and traditional wooden saw stools. You will be able to complete three woodworking saw stools and being of a sturdy construction will last you for many years.

Enjoyable art and craft, woodwork and forging can produce quality knives. 7. Knife Making : August 15th 16th and 17th   $305.00
Thomas Gerner
A knife should be well balanced, keep a good edge and fit comfortably in the hand. During this three day woodwork and forging course Thomas will help you to create a uniquely designed knife and time permitting an extra blade to finish off at home.

Rae Clarkson
This one day workshop is for women who have a secret passion to create this special item from WA timber using both hand tools and power tools. You will learn how to cut a join, use a mortise, assemble and finish your tray in time to get home for your dinner!

Jill Parnell
Using semi precious and non precious metals this workshop uses basic jewellery techniques with timber and some embellishing to help you create an individual piece of jewellery.

This a two day woodwork course that is designed for woodies to improve their knowledge of finishing techniques. You will learn everything from filler to bogs to staining and finishes. Day 1 Theory; Day 2 finishing; Please note you must complete day 1 to continue.

In this workshop participants will make a beautiful box using keyed mitres, decorative edge banding, a flushed veneer top and quadrant hinges.

Jenny will show you the art of wood carving to get you started in this creative art. You will learn the basics of relief carving to produce an original piece using Jelutong timber.

Gary Murfet
This woodwork course is for an intermediate level of competence and students must have completed introductory marquetry. Students will make a segmental marquetry clock face which can be wall mounted. The clock mechanisms, hands and numbers are included and you will have the opputunity to create a beautifully designed and created heirloom, to treasure for generations to come.

Woodworking Hint - Precision cuts.

  Using a marking knife is essential to getting that perfect cut.
Pencil lines can be of different thickness so where do you cut?
The fine groove that the marking knife leaves in your work allows a great starting point for cutting you woodwork project.
